Want to be part of Team South at the 2024 School Games?
The School Games National Finals return to Loughborough University from 29th August – 1st September 2024. The multi-sport event is designed to give young athletes an educational experience and a taste of what it is like to participate in a major multi-sport competition.
With the flat skills and seminars taking place on site, the last day is a race day at Derby BMX. Riders in the 14/15 years 20” categories will battle it out to see who will become the 2024 School Games National Champion.
As a potential Young Athlete, we are aware of how congested the race calendar is this year in May/June/July. Whilst our preference would be to hold a Development Session with all candidates, this year we are asking candidates to submit a video of the skills elements as part of their application for the 2024 BMX School Games.
There will be online sessions to join prior to the event, dates to be advised. Your Team Manager (Eric Esslemont) and Team Coach (John Twitchen) are happy to chat about what’s required and signpost potential Young Athletes towards previous School Games competitors for insight, advice and guidance.
As a BMX athlete you are already committed to progress, so please spend some time focusing on your flat skills in preparation for submitting your video as part of the application process.
The team is made up of 3x Open and 3x Female athletes, with two non-travelling reserves.
Application Process & Desired Criteria
To apply, please register your interest by completing the nomination form, link below. To complete the application, you will need to email South BMX Team Manager (Eric Esslemont) and Coach (John Twitchen) to submit your BMX skills video (andoverbmxclub@gmail.com) no later than 23.59 on Monday 1 July 2024.
